A 14-year-old H.F. Stevens student is dead following a hit-and-run accident Thursday, and the Fort Worth Police Department is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the accident.

According to a press release issued by the Fort Worth PD, Deston Bibbs was attempting to cross the road near Sycamore School and Crowley Road when he was struck by a large SUV or truck traveling eastbound on Sycamore School Road.

The report said Bibbs suffered many broken bones and severe head trauma. He was transported to the hospital where he later died Friday afternoon.

Crowley ISD Public Information Officer Anthony Kirchner said a crisis response team was on campus at H.F. Stevens to meet with students and staff.

The press release states investigators are currently viewing red-light camera footage and any other surveillance footage from the area in hopes of narrowing down the make and model of the suspected vehicle.

A $1,000 reward is being offered to anyone who provided a tip that lead to an arrest for a crime or a criminal case is cleared.
